In early December Sam was asked to go to the Essex county fish hatchery and photograph their largest rainbow trout that was expected to pass away soon. The town had hopes of raising enough money to have it mounted once it passed. We put our wood stove in on December 4th. Prior to that we were relying solely on the heated slab in the basement. Though it kept the house warm it was using quite a bit of propane. Josh had a great time building the first fire! The house heated up to over 80 degrees in no time! We spent as much time in the woods as we could this month since the season was coming to a close quickly. Unfortunately, we did not get any deer off our property. However, during the new holiday hunt that opened for southern zone, Sam was able to get a doe at Josh's parents property. Now that the shop was getting quite busy, and there was more jobs than ever coming in we decided to install a gate and security cameras. This really set Sam's mind at ease. We were all gearing up for our first Christmas in the house and though we did not have any solid walls yet, we had a Christmas tree cut from out property! Josh finished wiring the entire house, so we even had lights! Around the middle of the month Josh started beaver trapping at a local pond and was able to trap one beaver. We may not have had a full kitchen but this didn't stop us from gourmet cooking! We celebrated Christmas Eve with king crab legs from Alaska, ribeyes, and sweet potato. Sam surprised Josh with a trip to Costa Rica! Josh got Sam her industrial sewing machine that she has been wanting for years! On Christmas Day Josh made a whole ham with all the fixings!
